School of Performing Arts
The School of Performing Arts at Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) offers a comprehensive four-year program designed to prepare students for continued education and professional careers in the performing arts. The curriculum fosters both artistic growth and academic development, encouraging students to explore their creative potential in a structured and supportive environment.
Admission to the program is audition-based, with students selecting a major in one of the following disciplines:
- Dance
- Theater
- Instrumental Music
- Vocal Music
Instrumental Music Shop
Students accepted into the Instrumental Music Shop receive 100 minutes of daily instruction in their chosen major. Over the course of four years, students focus on the development of their skills on one primary instrument.
Instruction includes a blend of performance training and theoretical study, with a curriculum designed to support well-rounded musicianship. Students will engage in:
- Music Theory
- Arranging and Composition
- Ear Training
- Music History
- Exploration of Music Industry and Career Pathways
Audition Requirements
Prospective students must prepare the following for their audition:
- One musical election that best demonstrates their talent and ability
- Three major scales
- Two minor scales
- One chromatic scale

Audition Dates
Auditions for the Instrumental Music Shop typically take place between January and March. Students will be contacted by the PCTI Admissions Office to schedule an audition date.
